The Skin Cancer Foundation is bringing Destination Healthy Skin to 40 cities in 22 states this year.

The Foundation kicked off its 2026 mobile education and screening program on April 15 in Columbus, Ohio. It will then head to New York City for Melanoma Monday on May 4 and make an appearance at the Foundation’s annual Champions for Change Gala on Wednesday, May 13.

The Destination Healthy Skin RV will span roughly 10,000 miles over the next six months – all in the name of early detection and saving lives.

“Skin cancer rates continue to soar in this country, despite the fact that this disease is highly preventable with a good sun protection strategy,” said Deborah S. Sarnoff, MD, president of The Skin Cancer Foundation. “That’s why skin cancer public health education is so important. When you consider that 65% of the people who come to Destination Healthy Skin have never had a skin cancer screening before, it makes you realize the vital role this program plays in the communities that we have the privilege to serve.”

Since its inception, the program’s team of volunteer dermatologists has provided 34,000 free skin cancer screenings; identified more than 13,700 potential skin cancers and precancers, including 672 suspected melanomas; and distributed free skin cancer educational materials and sun protection products to more than 116,000 people.

Its 38-foot Destination Healthy Skin RV is equipped with two private exam rooms where volunteer dermatology providers perform screenings. In its waiting area, program managers answer questions and distribute skin cancer early detection and prevention information.
