Silab won the International Cosmetics Innovation Conference (ICIC) Award for its repairing natural active Neolipyl in the Science-Technology Innovative Ingredient Benchmark category in Shanghai on April 21.

“By leveraging our dual expertise in lipidomics and optical biopsies, we managed to establish the lipid signature of dry skin for the first time,” said Brigitte Closs-Gonthier, chief executive officer at Silab. “Based on these studies, we were able to determine the global repairing properties of our active ingredient on Caucasian and Asian volunteers with dry skin. We are very pleased that this efficacy has been recognized, and that, for the second time in just over a month.”

The distinction comes weeks after the supplier picked up silver at the PCHi Fountain Awards. Officials say Neolipyl is positioned as an effective solution against dry skin thanks to its novel restructuring activity. By targeting lipid disorders of dry skin, Neolipyl restores skin barrier integrity. These effects, officials say, translate into rapid benefits observed as early as 14 days of twice-daily application: micro-relief is smoothed, and skin hydration and comfort are improved. Comparative studies have demonstrated a niacinamide-like efficacy.

Retinol Reinforcement

Neolipyl also proves to be an asset when combined with retinol, officials say. When formulated in combination with this reference molecule, the active ingredient limits its adverse effects (dryness, discomfort and redness), without altering its anti-wrinkle efficacy. Neolipyl also significantly improves the positive effect of retinol on complexion radiance.
