The sports nutrition brand, founded by former track and field star Tyrone Faverey, creates supplements that cater to the dynamic lifestyles of the inner-city community.

Athletes who commit to a track team know the demands of the winged-foot sport: consistency, personal improvement, and striding to blow past the competition.
If anyone knows these team dynamics, it’s Tyrone Faverey. The former track star at the University of Connecticut experienced them firsthand as a high-, long- and triple-jump competitor.
“I knew elite athletes that never made it to the next level because they did not have the nutritional or mental foundation needed to succeed,” he said.
While some athletes may look back in regret at their patchy track careers, even wishing to rewrite history, Faverey is helming a “new history” with his namesake sports nutrition brand. He hopes to reinvigorate the spirit of struggling athletes, past and present, to be mentally and physically successful on the turf and beyond.
Faverey recognized what he called a “glaring oversight” of urban communities of color by mainstream sports nutrition brands as a deterrent in performance supplement options in the sports nutrition market.
“It’s not hard to see that most sports nutrition brands have a strong representation toward white males. It’s been this way for ages. In fact, the industry just recently started catering toward women,” he said. “When it comes to representation of other cultures and ethnicities, it’s just not something that’s being pushed within the industry, so much so that when supplements are talked about, they are largely portrayed in a negative light within the community. That must change.”
To rectify this perceived imbalance of racial representation in sports nutrition, New History, based in Washington, DC, seeks to change the game. Its first SKU — a nootropic pre-workout supplement — is designed to elevate individuals on all stages of their fitness journey, apropos for the novice gym-goer or the advanced athlete. New History also doubles as a fitness companion for those needing a boost to start a productive day.
“All our ingredients have an element of mind elevation to them as well, so we are focused on more than just the body,” said Faverey of the supplement powder’s contents, which are food- and plant-based. “We have ingredients to enhance mental clarity, focus, alertness, energy levels, and blood flow.”
Faverey likened New History’s Pre-workout Supplement powder in Dragon Berry to mixing Starburst, Fruity Pebbles cereal, dragonfruit, and Skittles into a zero-sugar energy drink.
“This is one of the best-tasting drinks you can put on your taste buds that will aid in elevating your best self,” he added.
Recently, New History supplements earned certification from Eurofins, a global leader in food and pharmaceutical testing. Eurofins thoroughly evaluates products to confirm the safety, potency, and integrity of ingredients. The certification reinforces New History’s commitment to excellence, safety, and transparency in its pre-workout supplement, the company said. Further, the certification marks a new chapter in New History’s story — one where its commitment to innovation and quality is recognized on a global scale, the brand said.
Locally, New History has created an Urban Youth Wellness Initiative (UYWI) to be involved in community-based events and activities to reshape consumers’ relationship with food.
The brand currently seeks to link up with community-based organizations that share their vision of enhancing wellness in inner-city communities.
“The UYWI is the natural next step for us as we have a strong focus on supporting our community through a variety of initiatives,” said Faverey. “The best way to ensure a happy and healthy future is to create it at an early age. Our goal is to instill happy and healthy habits into the youth so when they get older, their foundation will have health and activity at the core.”
New History’s Pre-Workout Supplement in Dragon Berry retails for $44.99 and logo shaker for $9.99 on its website and select retailers around the U.S. To get in touch with New History for partnership opportunities, head to www.newhistorysupps.com
