Altheostem™, the first of our dermohacking ingredients, is a new well-ageing active obtained from lab- grown stem cells of the flower petals of Althaea rosea. Altheostem™’s in vitro analysis is featured in the poster “Senolysis, a cutting-edge strategy for healthy skin ageing, is activated by Althaea rosea stem cells”, which was ranked among the TOP10 Posters at IFSCC Congress 2020. The study enabled the quantification of Altheostem™’s senolytic activity, by proving its selective and dose-dependent apoptotic effect on senescent dermal fibroblasts (HDF) vs normal HDF through various approaches (e.g., proportion of β-galactosidase-positive cells, ATP levels, levels of phosphatidylserine exposure and activation of Caspase-3/7). Moreover, the study quantified the positive outcomes resulting from this senolytic activity on the gene expression levels of relevant genes involved in extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling.

Altheostem™’s well-ageing power was also clinically proven on a panel of 70 mature women. The results of the many in vivo tests performed prove that this active significantly promotes a healthy glow, an elastic recovery, a decrease in skin sagging, a skin redensification and such a visible decrease in wrinkle depth and volume that the periocular area recovers almost 6 years of age. Furthermore, the Visual Apparent Age of the same panel was thoroughly studied in vivo thanks to a cutting-edge system based on Artificial Intelligence.
