Procedure

Weigh phase A, adjust homogenizer to start mixing. Premix phase B, add to main beaker while homogenizing at 800 to 1000 RPM. Heat to 80-82ºC. Add phase C to main phase when heated, until uniform. Heat phase D to 82-85ºC. Add to main phase and homogenize for 15 minutes (1500 RPM). Stop homogenizer. Switch batch to low speed sweep mixing. Add phase E at 45ºC. Make up water lost in heating with phase F. Mix until cool (30ºC) and uniform.

Properties

Appearance–Smooth and uniform; Centrifuge—No phase separation at RT and 40ºC 4000 rpm, 30 minutes; Viscosity—3,000-5,000 cP at 20ºC, Brookfield Viscometer LVT, Spindle 4, 30 rpm; pH—Between 5.0-6.0 at 20ºC; Emulsion Stability (Results to date)—Stable for 5 freeze-thaw cycles, Stable for 3 months at 40ºC and 50ºC.
