It was one of the most memorable nights in Fragrance Foundation history.

Vera Wang called Lauren a mentor and incomparable icon.

Ralph Lauren was inducted into the Fragrance Foundation Fall of Fame and Givaudan Master Perfumer Daniela Andrier received the Lifetime Achievement award at the New York City-based nonprofit’s 2025 awards gala. The ceremony was attended by a sold-out crowd of 1,000 guests at Lincoln Center on June 5.

Vera Wang, who presented the Fragrance of the Year in Women’s Luxury and Prestige, called Lauren a mentor, incomparable icon and visionary who embodies the “ultimate American Dream.”

“As a lifetime lover of fragrance myself, Ralph’s contribution to this universe has been so impactful on so many levels and so many worlds, and woven into our collective consciousness,” she mused.

Foundation Fragrance President Linda G. Levy said the Hall of Fame Award is given to “remarkable leaders” who have made a profound impact on shaping the American fragrance industry.

That evening, Ralph Lauren’s Polo 67 won Fragrance of the Year in Men’s Prestige.

Longtime Polo model Tyson Beckford presented the Hall of Fame Award to Ralph Lauren, accepted by his son, David.

Tyson Beckford, a longtime Ralph Lauren model and the face of Polo Sport in 1993, presented the award to Lauren’s son, David Lauren, Ralph Lauren Corporation’s chief innovator and brand officer, on Lauren’s behalf. He said his father was someone who understood the meaning behind “conjuring up dreams” at just 26 while alone in his office in the Empire State Building, which housed a single draw in which he stashed his ties. The word “Polo” was stitched into them by his wife, Ricky, when the couple had lived in the Bronx in the mid-1960s.

“My father had never been to a polo match,” said Lauren, half-jokingly. “That’s the truth, and he didn’t go for a long time. But he understood intuitively what it meant. He understood that he was conjuring up dreams even as a young guy at 26 years old. In the Bronx, we understood it meant a better life. It was about style and elegance. It was about sporty sensibility on and off the field. It was about elegance and a world that he wanted to be a part of and he dreamt that everyone else could be a part of.”

From that singular tie, Lauren weaved a successful business which morphed into men’s and women’s wear, despite having never been enrolled in any fashion school.

“No one thought that the designer of a tie could ever do these things,” said Lauren. “Ultimately, it led to an incredible partnership in the world of fragrance. With fragrance, he was able to take people on Safari or to the American West, into old England, onto a boat, to a baseball game with Aaron Judge or racing cars. Ralph Lauren was able to allow people to dream with him because he understood what it meant to dream.”

Daniela Andrier Earns 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award

Givaudan Master Perfumer Daniela Andrier accepts the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Givaudan Master Perfumer Daniela Andrier was awarded the Lifetime Achievement, which was presented to her by Karine Lebret, scent science and fragrance design, VP, L’Oréal Groupe.

“Givaudan not only allowed me to become a perfumer, but also made me encounter the love of my life, [Givaudan CEO] Gilles [Andrier]. I [create] my formulas with the joy of our love and the joy of our magical children. I’m proud to stand before them here tonight.”

Andrier said she was inspired by enchanting gardens of everlasting beauty, having lost her mother and grandmother at a young age. She likened the perfumer’s nose to birds who improvise different songs – both of whom bring others to experience joy, note for note.
