Old man winter shows no mercy on skin. Apart from causing dryness, redness and irritation, blustering winds can worsen existing skin conditions.

Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Water Gel is formulated with amino acids and electrolytes that help attract water and hydrate skin to restore the moisture balance.

Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Water Gel – a new moisturizer that quenches dry skin for a dewy complexion – helps consumers combat the elements, per the Kenvue-owned skincare brand.

To give skin the “boost” of hydration it needs to weather the rest of the winter 2024, Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Water Gel is formulated with amino acids and electrolytes that help attract water and hydrate skin to restore the moisture balance. It delivers six times more lightweight hydration for 48 hours and improves the look and feel of dry skin without clogging pores, per the brand. All of these ingredients are naturally present in skin and help attract and bind water at, and within skin’s surface, per Katrina Bernhardt, principal scientist for Neutrogena.

Hyaluronic acid works to bind to water and lock it into skin’s “dynamic” barrier, Bernhardt said.

The water-like gel is dermatologist-tested and safe for use on all skin types, including normal, oily, combination and acne-prone. The result? Long-lasting hydration and instant strengthening of the skin’s moisture barrier after one use, per the brand.

Refillable Package Model

Apart from product efficacy for consumers, the makers say the packaging is also good for environment. Hydro Boost Water Gel includes a refillable jar and refill pod. The company says the new packaging deters consumers from repurchasing jars of product and encourages them to purchase the refill pod to reduce plastic waste. The brand says this practice reduces plastic waste by 89%.

Bernhardt calls the Hydro Boost pack a “great innovation” for consumers who need to restock regularly.

“We know consumers are layering on moisturizer especially during winter, so it is a great time to introduce this refillable package model,” said Bernhardt.

The Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Refillable Jar and Refillable Pod Starter Kit ($29.99), and the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Refill Pod ($25.49), will be available at Ulta on Feb. 2.
