Cosmetic Chemist Ginger King Creates Skincare Brand with Model Luisa Slavila

Off We Glow’s hero product is a serum that contains niacinamide, an oil-soluble vitamin C and hydrators like saccharide isomerate.

As formulators continue to create product lines that cater to the evolving skincare needs of mid-life beauty enthusiasts, cosmetic chemist Ginger King and former model Luisa Slavila are the latest to jump on that bandwagon with Off We Glow.

The indie brand, which tackles aging and acne-prone skin, is debuting with its initial SKU, Rush Hour Serum.

Slavila struggled with acne and other skincare issues due to using too many products to treat external stressors on the face.

Niacinamide Powered System

Rush Hour Serum is touted as a lightweight, fast-absorbing serum designed for breakout-prone, rosacea or aging skin.

“It delivers deep hydration, visible calming, brightening and clarity while supporting a balanced-looking complexion,” Slavila told Happi. “Skin feels soothed, looks smoother and more radiant… never greasy or overloaded.”

Off We Glow’s exclusive Glow7 system is a “streamlined blend of seven compatible actives that work in sync to minimize irritation and guesswork,” noted King in an interview.

The system is “powered” by niacinamide, an oil-soluble vitamin C and hydrators like saccharide isomerate, according to King, who has been creating beauty products from concept to finish since 1995.

Other ingredients in Off We Glow include a “calming” botanical complex of peach-derived and coriander seed ingredients. The serum is dermatologist-tested, fragrance-free and non-comedogenic.

According to Slavila, the formula prioritizes “barrier care and comfort.”

From Modeling To The Lab

Slavila’s career spans international modeling, finance and business development. While modeling offered early insight into the beauty industry, it also exposed her to the pressure of maintaining “perfect skin,” often through aggressive treatments. She stepped away from modeling at the beginning of the pandemic.

During this period, Slavila earned a Bachelor of Science in Economy and International Affairs and a Master of Science in International Financial Risk Management from the Faculty of International Economic Relations in Bucharest. She went on to build a corporate career with Transworld Oil, working in roles focused on financial analysis, international contracts, regulatory compliance and strategic business development.

She left Transworld to fully focus on building her beauty brand. Determined to create products she could use on her own sensitive, acne-prone skin, Slavila worked under dermatological guidance with King to develop formulations focused on “barrier support, ingredient tolerability and comedogenic awareness,” she says.

“I have a busy life and Off We Glow covers it all in regard to my skincare,” said Slavila. “Sometimes, less is more.”

Off We Glow Rush Hour Serum sells for $59 and is available on OffWeGlow.com. More products will join the serum in 2026.
