Innovative Active from Silab

• The skin is subjected to various stresses on a daily basis, which lead to a deficiency in its barrier function. To accommodate epidermal restructuring, Silab developed Nachyline, which is rich in purified Torulaspora delbrueckii. This active ingredient regulates epidermal homeostasis by controlling calcium inflow into keratinocytes via the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChRs) pathway, according to the company.

Nachyline stimulates the formation of adherens junctions, boosts keratinocytes differentiation, reinforces the cohesion and stratification of epidermis and contributes to the organization of the stratum corneum, according to Silab. It restructures the epidermis and improves the barrier function and the condition of the skin’s surface. This active ingredient can be integrated in all repair treatments.
In other news, Silab revamped its new website, www.silab.fr, with a new look, new headings and regularly updated content. It also recently debuted Vitagenyl, rich in extracts from Prunus persica (peach tree leaves). This new ingredient can be integrated in any anti-aging care, according to the company.

Dow Corning Announces Sustainable Soy Wax Produced Using Green Chemistry Process

• Produced using a “green chemistry” process and soybean oil, Dow CorningHY-3200 Emulsifying Soy Wax emulsifies and thickens at low use levels, supports consumer beauty trends for anti-aging and sustainable products and reduces the number of ingredients required, which presents a potential cost advantage, said the company.

“HY-3200 Soy Wax opens new possibilities in the growing trend for natural products used in face and neck lotions, creams and serums,” said Sahoko Takeuchi, Dow Corning Beauty and Personal Care marketing manager. “The challenge was finding a renewable material that would allow emulsification and thickening. It’s difficult to achieve each one of those pieces individually. To get both of those in the same material is something that the industry doesn’t have today. It’s simple, stable and sustainable.”

At lower use levels in formulations, Dow CorningHY-3200 Emulsifying Soy Wax can form a stable emulsion across a broad range of oils. The soybean oil, which contains a large amount of polyunsaturated fatty acid, is metathesized, hydrogenated and then modified by the addition of polar groups. The result is an emulsifying wax with thickening benefits in combination with a wide range of cosmetic oils, which can create emulsions that are pH and electrolyte tolerant.

For skin to look the most radiant and healthy, it too needs gentle moisture that lasts throughout the day. The third anti-aging ingredient is Derm SRC, which is a combination of glucosamine HCI, pisum sativum (pea extract) and bambusa vulgaris (bamboo extract). It increases the production of collagen and elastin, while inducing cell proliferation and differentiation.Derm SRC is said to firm the skin and make deeper wrinkles less visible.
