Industry seeks non-animal testing methods.

The US National Toxicology Program (NTP) is advancing the evaluation and development of new validated test methods that could replace, reduce and refine animal testing across US federal agencies, according to observers. The NTP is hosting a series of Method Developers Forums (MDF), concentrating on particular toxicities and providing a platform for developers of new approach methodologies (NAM).

NTP will hold webinars on August 21 and 22. Beginning at 9am (EDT), the three-hour webinars will include presentations from select method developers who will discuss their techniques and potential applicability for regulatory and industry stakeholders.

According to NTP, the webinar will promote the exchange of scientific data necessary for the creation and modification of test methods that could minimize the necessity for animal testing, unify agency protocols and streamline regulatory decision-making processes.

Deadline for proposal submission is Friday, July 26.
