The Household and Commercial Products Association (HCPA) Mid-Year Meeting is June 22-25 at The Mayflower Hotel, Washington DC. There’s still time to register for the event, click here.
The HCPA Mid-Year Meeting, “Adapting Today, Advancing Tomorrow,” includes a range of sessions to help attendees navigate an increasingly complex world. Here’s a look at the schedule:
Attendees of the joint Aerosol and Air Care Products Division program will gain insights from Molka Chevalier, Neal Cohen and Luisa Lobo on activity from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). They will explain what retailers are focused on and give guidance on selecting alternative technologies to the water bath test. Metal Packaging Circularity: Navigating the Future of Aerosol Recycling and PCR Content – Scott Breen, Gary Okey and Michael Pratt will explore the challenges and opportunities in recycling, the current state of the US recycling infrastructure and efforts to overcome these barriers. Government Relations Special State Affairs – The EPA’s Dr. Nancy Beck will outline the Trump administration’s approach to reducing regulatory delays under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) New Chemicals program. She will also explain the continued implementation of the Pesticide Registration Improvement Act (PRIA). Beck will also provide key insights into the EPA’s organizational restructuring, the future direction of the Agency’s voluntary programs and efforts to modernize information technology systems. This will be followed by Senator Malcolm Augustine, who will explain his multi-year effort to champion packaging Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in Maryland. It began with an EPR study and recycling needs assessment, and culminating in the passage of an EPR bill by the Maryland legislature during the 2025 legislative session.
Rich Engler, David Fischer and Jake Kennedy will explore where Congressional activity on TSCA may be headed and how companies can engage. Sustainability & Product Stewardship Council Program: Monetizing Carbon Reductions: Building Business Value Across the Supply Chain – Chris Aiello, Chris Cassel, Luiziana Ribeiro and Sean Sheppard will offer insights about how carbon transparency can strengthen brand reputation, meet customer demand and drive collaboration across the supply chain. Joint Sustainability & Product Stewardship and Government Relations Special Session: Jamie Pero Parker, Colin Preston, Michael Washburn and Keith Weitz will explore the evolving landscape of sustainable packaging for household and commercial products. They will focus on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), post-consumer recycled (PCR) content and related regulatory drivers to reduce packaging waste and corresponding implementation strategy considerations.
David French and Richeek Maitra will discuss the latest trade activities and inform companies how to remain resilient and competitive in an evolving marketplace. Joint Antimicrobial & Pest Management Products Division Program: The Regulation of Pesticides Beyond the EPA – Experts Will Pitt, Emily Saad and Jonathan Walsh will discuss the ever-changing pesticide regulatory landscape, including registration requirements and how states are filling federal-level gaps. There will be a specific focus on California, Canada and the European Union. General Session with Lunch and Keynote Presentation – Political correspondent Robert Costa will provide insights on the activities of the current Administration and how this impacts the industry.
