The FDA-compliant product marks the brand’s foray into a new household care category.

Minwax—a top-selling brand of interior wood stains—has entered a new household care category with the rollout of its new Food-Grade Wood Oil & Conditioner. The product is billed as the first food-contact-safe, FDA-compliant solution to protect and condition wood surfaces such as butcher block, as well as cutting boards, wooden bowls and utensils.
The launch is the first food-grade wood oil and conditioner product in the Minwax lineup.
“Our Food-Grade Wood Oil & Conditioner is an exciting step into a new category,” said Madeline Tucker, senior brand manager, Minwax.
Properly protecting and conditioning wood prevents it from absorbing liquids, which can cause swelling, warping and cracking, according to Minwax, which is owned by Sherwin Williams—the No. 1 company in the global paint industry, according to Coatings World. (Coatings World is the leading B2B publication in the paint and coatings industry, and a sister magazine to Happi.)
“This new product extends our tradition of quality into a new category, offering a food-contact-safe, efficient and effective solution for consumers’ wood care needs,” said Andrew Marsden, senior product manager, Sherwin-Williams Consumer Brands Group. “Oiling and conditioning wooden kitchenware typically involves two separate steps using two separate products—our goal was to simplify that process with one convenient, yet food-contact-safe option consumers can’t find anywhere else.”
Sold in 12-ounce bottle, it is currently available at Lowe’s stores nationwide.
