In-Cosmetics North America opens in NYC with Kline data.
September 7, 2016
By: Melissa Meisel
The future of the personal care industry is indisputably strong, with specialty ingredients expected to be the driving force behind a CAGR of more than 3.5% until 2020, according to Nikola Matic of Kline. Speaking at the new in-cosmetics North America event in New York City this morning, Matic highlighted Kline’s latest research findings. Focusing on the global personal care market, he revealed that formulators’ demand for high quality ‘differentiated’ products will lead to increased consumption of specialty ingredients over the next four years. Demand will be fuelled by the flourishing Chinese and Indian markets, where average growth from 2015-2020 will exceed 5.5%. Meanwhile, in the US, Kline predicts that trends such as active beauty will see consumption of waterproofing polymers and UV boosters grow faster than any other ingredient category; rheology control agents will top the chart with approximately 3.5% growth. Matic commented: “The coming years will be exciting for the global ingredients industry. We expect consumers to continue their pursuit of premium goods which means that manufacturers will need to create products that are different from the mainstream. The growth in specialty ingredients will lead to a raft of exciting new cosmetics being formulated over the next few years.” With innovation at the heart of in-cosmetics North America, a number of exciting new ingredients have also been announced as part of the event’s Innovation Zone. A total of 17 products will be shown on the Innovation Zone over both days, all launched within the last six months. Belinda Carli, Official Technical Advisor to the in-cosmetics Group, said: “The ingredients shown in the Innovation Zone are truly unique. They provide wide ranging benefits to manufacturers and will undoubtedly help R&D professionals create some wonderful new formulations in the coming years. Importantly, they are global suppliers who have come to the US to demonstrate how they can help North American businesses thrive both regionally and globally.” The following products will be on display in the Innovation Zone: · AMA Laboratories, PolyChrommetrix 3D Modeling and Printing (C49) · Ashland, Blumilight™ biofunctional (C30) · Ashland, ChromoHance™ 113 polymer, (C30) · bitop AG, 28Extremoin, (D65) · Cargill, Lygomme™VPC 50 / Lygomme™VPC 30, (B35) · Cosphatech LLC, Neosome EM Ultrafill, (D27) · Gattefossé, Gatuline Renew, (B24) · LeafPro LLC, Leaf Proteins, (only in Innovation Zone) · Lincoln Manufacturing, Lintelligence IQ-E1 – Multifunctional Antimicrobial, (B74) · LipoTrue, Epitensive, (B40) · Mibelle AG Biochemistry, RoyalEpigen P5, (C68) · Revolymer, RevCare Natural Effects, (C42) · Sensient Cosmetic Technologies, FSP surface treatment technology, (D34) · SOLVAY, Rheomer 33 SC PLUS, (B68) · Sonneborn, Shea XP Active Base Emollient, (C58) · SynShark LLC, SynSharkTM Squalene, (only in Innovation Zone) · TECHNATURE, Leaf Mask, (C60) With visitor registration extremely positive for this year’s event and the Pier 36 venue sold out, the organizers of in-cosmetics North America have announced that the second edition of the show will run from Oct. 11-12 at a new location, the Javits Center in New York. Daniel Zanetti, Exhibition Director of in-cosmetics North America, added: “The early feedback we have had from R&D professionals and finished product manufacturers is that this show is an extremely valuable addition to their calendars. Following research among our partners and the personal care industry, we’ve decided to take the event to a larger venue next year, allowing us to increase the number of suppliers that visitors can meet and the educational opportunities on offer.”
