A new, unique, bio-derived and patented line based on Citropol.
December 4, 2020
By: Happi Staff
P2 Science, Inc. (P2) has launched bioderived and patented semi-solid cosmetic ingredients. The new line, tradenamed Citrolatum, is built on P2's Citropol platform. As such, Citrolatum products are derived from upgraded forestry by-products from Forest Stewardship Council certified forests. Commercial production of the new product line will start soon at P2’s state-of-the-art green chemistry manufacturing facility in Naugatuck, CT. Samples and product literature are available now at the company’s website, and products can be purchased directly on the company’s e-store – also on the website. “This Citrolatum line represents a revolutionary step by P2 into a new product form – that is semi-solid ingredients. We expect these ingredients to find immediate wide application as alternatives to petrolatum – among many other uses” said Neil Burns, CEO of P2. “Customers have been asking us for months if we have the capability to supply anything that looks and acts like petrolatum but is bioderived. We believe formulators will find the answer in our Citrolatum line – a technical achievement that we are proud to bring to market.” The Citrolatum launch represents the 7th and 8th products to be commercialized by P2 since April of this year. P2 Science is a green chemistry company, co-founded by Professor Paul Anastas, head of the Yale Center for Green Chemistry and Green Engineering. P2 has developed and patented technologies for converting renewable feedstocks into high-value specialty products. Investors in P2 include BASF Venture Capital, Xeraya Capital, Elm Street Ventures, Connecticut Innovations, Ironwood Capital, HG Ventures and Chanel. The company started up its first manufacturing plant in September of 2018 which produces novel renewable aroma chemicals and cosmetic ingredients.
