When it comes to holiday shopping, AI and personalization are pushing the electronic shopping cart.
In a 2024 holiday retail survey conducted within the YouCam Apps user community, Perfect Corp found the season will see increased emphasis on value-driven, personalized and technology-enhanced shopping.
The majority of consumers (66%) plan to spend less this holiday season, underscoring a focus on value and savings in response to current economic challenges.
Sixty percent of consumers prefer a mix of in-store and online shopping, appreciating the convenience of at-home browsing alongside expert in-store assistance. Top pain points of shopping online include the inability to try products on before buying (34%), complicated returns processes (22%) and too many product choices (15%).
Twenty-three percent of consumers seek virtual try-on tools, while 26% value AI-powered virtual assistants. Personalized experiences are becoming essential, with consumers expecting tailored recommendations and interactive tools.
Fifty-two percent of consumers are using or plan to use AI in shopping, showing a shift toward AI normalization. AI tools like chatbots and predictive analytics are key to enhancing the shopping experience.
“We’re excited to empower brands and retailers with the insights and technology solutions they need to succeed,” said Perfect Corp CEO and Founder Alice Chang. “As we see in these results, AI is becoming more crucial than ever for effectively engaging consumers and addressing their evolving preferences for personalization. Perfect Corp.’s solutions can support brands in creating seamless, personalized and innovative shopping experiences that delight customers this holiday season and beyond.”
