Daash Intelligence, an AI-powered predictive commerce intelligence platform providing weekly insights on the beauty industry, reports that makeup remains the largest driver of prestige beauty sales, accounting for 44% of the market.
While overall prestige beauty is trending down (-6% year-over-year), categories like fragrance (+8%) and vitamins/minerals/supplements (+18%) are seeing growth.
Makeup sales represented 44% of the total prestige market. Despite a $2.40 increase in the average price point, its’ share of sales declined by 2% compared to Week 15 of 2024. Within makeup, face maintains the top contributor at 44% of prestige makeup.
The top three ranked product categories within prestige makeup are foundation, concealers and blush and accounted for 28% of prestige makeup, with foundation at 12% (-11% YOY), concealers at 9% (-8% YOY), and blush at 6% (-19% YOY).
Within the eye category, mascara and eyebrow are ranked Nos. 5 and 9, respectively, in makeup on the week and accounted for 9% of prestige makeup but downtrended with mascara at -11% YOY and eyebrow at -28% YOY.
Within the lip category, lipstick, gloss and lip liner contributed 11% to prestige makeup.Lipstick and gloss downtrended at -18% YOY and -32%, respectively, but lip liner, which is ranked #12 increased slightly at +3%.
