The Independent Beauty Association (IBA) has added Marcha Chaudry, attorney and founder of The Equity and Wellness Collaborative, to its board of directors for the 2024-2025 term.

Chaudry brings knowledge in regulatory compliance and a commitment to advancing equity and well-being in the cosmetics industry, officials said.

As the founder of The Equity and Wellness Collaborative, Chaurdry has been instrumental in providing expert guidance in regulatory compliance, program development and advocacy. Chaudry’s mission aligns with IBA’s dedication to empowering businesses to navigate the complexities of cosmetic regulations and uphold standards of equity, wellness, safety and responsible policy, officials said.

Chaudry is an attorney with over a decade of experience in nonprofit leadership, public policy, and advocacy and the driving force behind the Equity and Wellness Collaborative (EWC). Her background in cosmetic policy, consumer safety, women’s health policy, and strategic advocacy on Capitol Hill has positioned her as a thought leader championing public welfare, business acumen and the interests of marginalized groups.

Before establishing EWC, Chaudry played an influential role in shaping cosmetic policy, providing expert testimony before Congress and the FDA and advocating for marginalized groups and enhanced cosmetic safety regulations. These experiences provided her with profound insights into the regulatory complexities and safety of cosmetic ingredients.

Chaudry serves as a regulatory consultant for beauty brands, helping them navigate complex regulatory landscapes. She holds advisory board roles with the Black Beauty Justice Project, certifying Black-owned beauty brands and Radical Science, which supports dietary supplement brands by ensuring diversity in clinical trials—a critical area where Black and Brown communities have historically been underrepresented. Additionally, she is an active committee member in several trade associations, contributing to the advancement of businesses and cosmetic regulations.
