The Billboard Hot 100 Chart topper, four-time Grammy winner – his highest-certified single being “God’s Plan,” having gone 15 times Platinum – is now a fragrance entrepreneur.
The rapper, regarded as among the greatest of all time, is debuting his inaugural Better World Fragrance House with the launch of his first eau de parfum. And, like his blazing catalogue, it’s piping hot.
Summer Mink, billed a statement of elegance and contrast, the fragrance – available on the Better World Fragrance House website with an exclusive debut set for Ulta.com on May 11 and in-store nationwide on May 12 – is reportedly the first men’s fragrance founded by a celebrity in the retailer’s history. Inspired by the beauty of juxtaposition, Summer Mink defies convention and embraces the unexpected with indulgences as varied as donning a mink coat in the summertime while championing bold sophistication.
In its making, Drake teamed with longtime collaborator, perfumer Michael Carby of Givaudan, to expand Better World Fragrance House’s vision of “crafting distinctive luxury scents that curate personal space and elevate everyday experiences,” per the house. The fragrance is touted a multisensory masterpiece, pairing an intoxicating scent housed in an exquisite globe-shaped bottle embellished with the brand’s signature midnight blue color.
Embodying a rich, amber woody composition, Summer Mink opens with vibrant Italian citrus and sage, unfolding into a warm, spicy floral heart of Jasmine Sambac before settling into a sensual base of vetiver and creamy musk. The fragrance’s architectural bottle serves to reflect the brand’s ethos: uniting opposing elements through design with its sleek navy sphere balanced atop a sharp, rectangular base.
“Summer Mink was inspired by a yin-yang principle of fusing warm, creamy base notes with cold spices and sparkling citruses,” said Michael Carby, senior perfumer at Givaudan. “The ingredient composition was uniquely crafted to reflect a multinational culture with aspirations toward a Better World.”
The 3.4 oz Eau de Parfum Spray retails for $148 at betterworldfragrancehouse.co. An exclusive in-store debut at over 1,400 Ulta Beauty locations nationwide and on Ulta.com is planned this spring, available in a range of sizes. Select international retail launches are in the works for later in the year.
