The American Cleaning Institute (ACI) – the trade association for the US cleaning product supply chain – welcomed experienced leaders from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to expand the association’s capabilities in both sustainability and project management, respectively.
With more than 15 years of experience in sustainability-related fields, Emily Trentacope, Ph.D., will serve as ACI’s VP, Sustainability – focusing on one of the association’s core pillars. She will set the strategic direction for this area, working with ACI’s member companies to help shape the cleaning product industry’s long-term vision for environmental stewardship, societal impact and responsible innovation.Trentacope has worked in the federal space for the last 11 years, most recently for the EPA’s Office of Research & Development as an Associate National Program Director for Safe and Sustainable Water Resources.
“Through bold thinking, collaborative leadership and deep subject matter expertise, Emily will help deliver measurable progress while upholding ACI’s high standard for environmental and social responsibility,” said co-interim CEO Korie Traver. “She will guide the vision for industry sustainability success on emerging issues, innovation opportunities, and systemic sustainability shifts.”
ACI also expanded its project management focus and capabilities by hiring Garret Boston, PMP, who will serve as the senior project manager, Strategic Initiatives. A US Army veteran, Boston’s most recent role was as a senior project manager for the FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health. He also worked in the agency’s Office of Regulatory Affairs.
In his new role, Boston will oversee project execution, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with ACI’s goals. He will manage project timelines, budgets and look for opportunities to drive efficiency and optimization within the association’s projects and processes.
“Garret’s ability to understand and implement project management methodologies will help ACI foster even more collaboration and optimization and help deliver high-impact results in a dynamic and evolving landscape,” Traver said.
