Procedure

In a main vessel, combine Phase A and mix well with a dispersing blade until smooth and uniform. In a separate vessel, combine Phase B under mixing and heat to 80-85°C until ascorbic acid has completely dissolved. Under rapid cooling and continued mixing, drop the temperature to 25°C. Emulsify by adding Phase B to Phase A under low shear (600-800 rpm) then transfer beaker to a homogenizer and mix for three minutes at 4200rpm.

Properties

Stability: 25°C: passed 6 months; 50°C: passed 3 months; 4°C/40°C: passed 2 months (ongoing). Characteristics: Appearance: Opaque lotion. Viscosity: Brookfield Heliopath RV Spindle 6, Speed 20, 1 min @ 25°C—24 hr ~ 13,000-14,000 cp.
