Sytheon has obtained its third US patent (11,077,035) entitled “Hair Treatment Compositions and Methods.”

Sytheon inventors have expanded the use of aryl alkanones in protecting hair fiber/scalp by reducing oxidative stress generated during dyeing process. This is the first product of this category which selectively chelates Fe and/or Cu ions but not the skin/scalp friendly Zn or Ca ions in reducing/eliminating Fenton reaction to happen.

These compositions, more specifically, acetyl zingerone methyl ether (Synoxyl MAZ), reduces and/or aid in reducing oxidative damage sustained by hair fibers during bleaching, repeated shampooing, dyeing, perming or other oxidative treatments. These compositions according to the present invention are also found to provide excellent color evenness, color protection and reduce scalp itching in those compositions employed for altering/preserving hair coloration.
