Personal Care and Homecare Ingredients (PCHi), China’s choice sourcing platform for the global personal care industry, has opened in Guangzhou at The China Import and Export Fair Complex to much fanfare. 

 

Over the next three days, visitors can expect to connect with key players, learn from industry veterans and explore the latest innovative ingredients and service offerings presented by more than 700 exhibitors from around 30 countries and territories.

 

With this edition, PCHi celebrates 15 years of serving the industry as China’s definitive platform for uncovering the latest innovations and best ingredients. Countless companies — whether MNC or domestic player — have chosen to debut their products at PCHi over the years, and many have gone on to perform well in their markets of influence.

Shanghai JAKA Biotech is offering a sneak peek of its brand-new oral care product, Oralitos PE, a Phyllanthus Emblica plant extract that targets halitosis. Sharing about her company’s decision to do a global soft launch at PCHi 2023, Ms May SHI, GM for Marketing Development, said, “The event has established itself as a reputable industry staple that attracts top-notch innovations each year, and we wanted to put our best foot forward with this showcase. From what I’ve seen so far, exhibitors are pulling out all stops to impress the visitors and I’m glad we did, too.”

 

Also launching a new product at PCHi 2023 is Symrise, who unveiled its SymCalmin PLUS, an anti-itch active ingredient that is suitable for skin care and scalp care formulations. The ingredient targets a greater coverage compared to its predecessor — regulating both NK1 and PAR2 receptors — and offers an enhanced antipruritic effect. 

 

“Over our years of participation, we’ve noticed that visitor awareness has increased and the industry is demanding more high-tech solutions with proper scientific documentation,” said Calvin Wang, marketing executive for cosmetic ingredients. “This ties in with our preference to focus launch efforts around PCHi — even our global colleagues know that it is a top-tier industry event for the Chinese market, and being here ensures that our key product gets the right attention it deserves.”

For the first time this year, Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions (RSE) is releasing a special industry insights report (also known as a “Blue Book”) in collaboration with Mintel, bevol.cn, and Beautydata.ai.

Designed to equip the domestic market with scientific, objective market research data, the report comprises an analysis of recent beauty trends and up-and-coming market predictions organized in three sections — general, anti-aging, and sensitive skin.

 

RSE envisions this report as a regular feature and the desire is to spark inspiration, spur industry development, and enable companies to capitalize on available opportunities for greater success.

This week, at the industry night dinner held at Intercontinental Guangzhou Exhibition Center, the PCHi Fountain Awards 2023 were presented to deserving winners across the 14 product and personnel categories.

 

First introduced in 2017, the PCHi Fountain Awards was established to reward the industry and spur it towards advancing research capabilities and developing cutting-edge technologies, and today, it is an influential and authoritative annual industry event.

 

This year, RSE processed scores of nominations from exhibiting companies for categories comprising innovative products and also individuals, for their contributions in ingredient research and development.

 

Scores of nominations flowed in from exhibiting companies between October and December last year, and entries were assessed against standardized criteria — including product ingenuity, technical prowess and market application prospects. The panel of 18 judges comprise senior experts from prestigious universities and scientific institutes, leading R&D figures from renowned organizations such as Shiseido, Beiersdorf, LG Household & Health Care, POLA Chemical Industries, Unilever, China Association Fragrance, Flavor and Cosmetic Industries (CAFFCI), as well as industry experts from PCHi’s Cosmetics Science & Technology Innovation Committee (CSTIC).
