NYSCC Suppliers’ Day was a hot spot yesterday—and not just due to New York City’s heat index that was near 100°.  After the ribbon cutting, formulators entered the show ready to meet with the full beauty and personal care industry supply chain inside the Javis Center. This year’s event has the largest show floor in NYSCC Suppliers’ Day history, according to show organizers.

The growth of this for-the-industry-by-the-industry event from its early days as a half-day event to today’s expansive two-day exhibition with extensive education opportunities has been fostered by the volunteers of the New York Chapter of SCC.

Finalists Revealed

After the lights dimmed inside the Javits Center, NYSCC celebrated at the Hard Rock Hotel. The Awards Night included the reveal of the CEW Beauty Awards Supplier Finalists—the shortlist of breakthrough ingredients, technologies and formulations being recognized this year.

The finalists are:

“It was an amazing day today, and we’re looking forward to tomorrow,” NYSCC Chair Anushka Nadkarni told Happi on the show floor on May 19, noting the wide range of activities and opportunities on both days.

Today’s Events

At 9 am, L’Oréal will take the stage in a keynote address that represents the heart of Suppliers’ Day: collaboration between supplier and manufacturer. Aurélia Del Bufalo, PhD, VP, deputy director at Advanced Research North America, research and innovation, L’Oréal Groupe, will be joined on the stage by Galder Cristobal, senior director of global research and development for personal care at Ashland, and Patrick Foley, president and co-founder at P2 Science, for a discussion about “Collaborating for Impact.”

On the docket for Day 2 are events such as the the Catalyst Club breakfast (745 am), the L’Oréal keynote, Future Chemist workshops, mentorship opportunities, a membership mixer with CEW and the awarding of the People’s Choice Award and the Indie Maverick influencer Awards.

The show floor will be open from 9 am to 4 pm.
