Alexis Androulakis and Christina Basias Androulakis, a.k.a. the Lipstick Lesbians, have pulled the covers off their new venture, Leaked Labs. This new brand will put yet-to-be commercialized beauty products right into the hands of consumers.

The approach, they told Happi, is to take innovation “stuck” inside some of the leading beauty development labs in the world, and get it out into the public sphere.

The debut Leaked Labs product, Leak 001, is Amplify Flexi Powder. It is a flexible, water activating pigment sheet that was found at an Italian manufacturer.

Amplify Flexi Powder is flexible.

On March 6, Amplify Flexi Powder will be available to consumers in the form of thin circular discs that can be bent without cracking—think eyeshadow that can be wrapped around a finger or sponge applicator without crumbling into pieces. What’s more, users can drop water or setting spray on to the wafer-thin disc and it will morph into a gel-like consistency and deliver greater intensity and depth of color to the eyes, cheeks, lips or body—and then return to its initial powder form as it dries.

The innovative format is likely to generate buzz—especially when combined with the clout that the Lipstick Lesbians command on social (they have about 1.2 million TikTok followers and more than 500K on Instagram).

The powder has been scaled to pilot stage at its manufacturer, according to Leaked Labs. But what comes next for this technology is unknown. Leaked Labs will ask for feedback from customers about the product, which could be used to shape that decision.

In a sit down with the press ahead of this week’s official launch, Androulakis said there were no immediate plans to move Amplify Flexi Powder into broader production.

But the co-founders told Happi that Leak 002 is ready to go—and additional launches are in the hopper.

“We built Leaked Labs to shorten the distance between scientific breakthrough and real-world experience. This is about honoring innovation instead of letting it sit in development limbo. When people get access to what the lab already knows works, beauty becomes exciting again,” noted Androulakis, in an official press statement.

In addition to Basias Androulakis (chief brand officer) and Androulakis (chief innovation officer), Asha Coco, founder of Glowup Partners, is on board as CEO of Leaked Labs.
