NYX Professional Makeup & Latinx Creator Revive ‘The OG Brew’ Lipliner

Influencer Paloma Sanchez helps update the brown lipcolor for 2026.


After years of pleas across Reddit threads, tweets, TikToks and comment sections, NYX Professional Makeup officially revived a cult-favorite: the Suede Matte Lip Liner in ‘The OG Brew.’  It has been reformulated for 2026 into a deeper brown.

The revival was sparked by momentum led by Latina creator Paloma Sanchez (@whor3chata_: 1.1 million followers), whose love for the shade ignited mass conversation—and ultimately, action.

Honoring the power of community, NYX partnered directly with Sanchez to re-develop ‘The OG Brew,’ collaborating through blind swatching, formula testing and even naming the final shade: a cool, true brown crafted by and for the community. 

According to Tracy Allen, director of product development at NYX Professional Makeup, “The Cold Brew shade was never actually ‘out.’ At NYX Professional Makeup, we always strive to bring you the very best. Sometimes, our products need a little update, whether it’s because certain ingredients are banned, discontinued or we’ve moved to a new manufacturing home.

“While we aim for perfection, unfortunately, these updates can occasionally lead to slight variations in shade or texture, which is what happened with Cold Brew. When the formula and colorants were adjusted, they yielded a slightly different variation to the shade. Paloma brought this difference to our attention and we knew we had to take action because at NYX, the consumer voice truly matters to us!

Allen continued, “Today we have the existing Cold Brew shade available, which has a more reddish-brown tone, because we have a community who loves this shade…the new shade has a bit more of a deeper brown tone because we know that different undertones and shades show up differently on across various skin tones, but we’re excited to share that both are Brews are here to stay!”

NYX Professional Makeup is celebrating over 25 years in business. This summer, it held a celebratory immersive pop-up experience in the brand’s hometown of Los Angeles, CA.

Wonder Stick highlights, contours and blends with eight color-coordinated shade pairings with this dual-ended contouring stick. Per the brand, four Wondersticks are sold every minute globally.
