Manic Panic's new Inter-Gel-Actic semi translucent gel hair color is sold in a DIY kit.

Indie hair color brand Manic Panic has new hair color on the launchpad: Inter-Gel-Actic, a highly-pigmented semi-permanent gel formula.

Founders Tish and Snooky Bellomo said they are “crossing into a whole new dimension of hair color, beyond the traditional semi‑perm vivid color creams, which Manic Panic landed in NYC nearly 50 years ago.”

The semi‑translucent gel is infused with ingredients said to moisturize, smooth and boost hydration as well as vegan lactic acid to strengthen, soften and lock in color. The gel format allows for application to damp hair, speeding up the application routine, according to the brand. The no-mix formula does not require developer.

The new line makes its market debut in Manic Panic’s first complete at-home box set.  The DIY box kits include two 2 oz. recyclable and resealable aluminum tubes of color, reusable coloring tools (brush, bowl and gloves) and a 20 ml supply of Stellar Shield Barrier Cream.

Inter-Gel-Actic hit the market in five colors. Pink Warrior is a medium electric pink on blonde hair and deeper, cooler saturated pink on medium-dark hair. Celestine Blue is a bold blue on blonde hair and a darker dimensional blue on medium-dark hair. Red Velvet is a bright cherry red on blonder hair and deep dimensional red on medium-dark hair. Divine Wine is a bold red violet on blonde hair and dark wine dimension on medium-dark hair. Love Power Purple is a vibrant plum-purple with rich red warmth on blonde hair and a deep, wine toned plum dimension on medium brown hair.
