Beiersdorf Patents Dual-Chamber Package for Acne Treatment

Formulation includes a lyophilized preparation of selected C. acnes strains.

US Patent No. 12,502,350 B2: Beiersdorf AG and S-Biomedic, Beerse, Belgium, patented cosmetic product housed in a container having two spatially separated chambers. The first chamber contains a lyophilized preparation of selected Cutibacterium acnes (C. acnes) strains, optionally with stabilizers (e.g., glycerol, oils, thickeners). The second chamber comprises a water-containing cosmetic preparation with one or more of glycerol, panthenol, ubiquinone Q10, and/or hyaluronic acid.  

The two chambers are mixed in a closed system, reactivating the bacteria immediately before application to acne-affected skin.

Daniel Richter, Jennifer Huepeden, Joern Hendrik Reuter, Heike Foelster, Bernhard Felten and Jane Djamil are credited in the patent.
