Room mists and car diffusers are getting the green-light on Spate’s Popularity Index.

As perfume continues to leave a lasting impression on the beauty conversation, (hello, 2025’s fragrance layering and hair perfume trends!) consumers continue to invest in scent. After all, it has the power to elicit pleasant memories and brighten moods.
According to beauty trend tracker Spate, home and space fragrances are a natural extension of the fragrance routine and an important ritual to sophisticated spritzers.
Per Spate’s Popularity Index, the moment’s top-growing home fragrance trends are car diffusers and room mists and sprays.
Just as smelling great is key to making a positive first impression, so is a great-smelling home.
Room mists and sprays have grown by 52.9% compared to last year, and across platforms. On Search, this trend has increased by 39.8%, on TikTok by 76.7%, and on Instagram by 38.1%. This trend is owned by Google, with 49.2% Popularity Share, receiving 49.6K average monthly searches on Google and 3.3 million average weekly views on TikTok. Consumers are increasingly searching for beauty and personal care brands that extend their scent stories into the home. On TikTok, top related branded hashtags include #mavwicksfragrance (269.9K average weekly views, known for recreating popular personal scents like Baccarat Rouge), #lattafa (94,600), #poopourri (75,500), and #baccaratrouge540 (33,600).
While consumers desire the real thing, many are open to dupes that deliver the same scent experience. On Instagram, #fragrancelover is the top related hashtag by likes alongside this trend, suggesting that home sprays are becoming an extension of the modern fragrance-layering routine. Room sprays offer an accessible entry point into the world of luxury fragrance, officials said.
Gone are the days where Little Trees sufficed in scenting vehicles. With cars’ sophisticated evolution opening the door to Apple Play and ignited with the push of a button, car owners say the key to extending that sophistication is keeping the air smelling shiny and new, too.
According to analysts, the car diffuser trend has grown by 30.8% compared to last year, and across platforms. On search, it’s up 49.4%; on TikTok it has increased by 9.5%, and on Instagram has risen by 72.5%. The trend is owned by Google, with 54.9% Popularity Share, receiving 31,400 average monthly searches on Google and 3.5 million average weekly views on TikTok.
Search data indicates consumers are gravitating toward personal fragrance brands such as Jo Malone and Acqua di Parma, which suggests strong synergy between beloved fine fragrances and how consumers want their vehicle to smell like. On TikTok, top related branded hashtags include #hotelcollection, #diptyque, #bathandbodyworks and #soldejaneiro, which average 23,400, 15,000, 2,600 and 2,400 weekly views, respectively. The first two bring a sense of luxury and elegance to the car, while Bath & Body Works adds a nostalgic touch (think Japanese Cherry Blossom.) Meanwhile, Sol de Janeiro shows how consumers are seeking replicas of their favorite personal fragrances in car diffuser form. As brands look for creative ways to expand product categories, many personal care and fragrance labels are entering the space, driven by consumers who are extending their fragrance layering routine beyond the body and into the bodies of their “other half” – their cars!
