Gemz Hair Care Partners with TerraCycle to Launch Recycling Program

New campaign includes recycling shampoo and conditioner packaging.

Gemz—the Procter & Gamble hair care brand known for its waterless formulas and breakthrough, “gem”-shaped shampoo and conditioner capsules—is expanding its commitment to sustainable innovation.

In partnership with international recycling leader TerraCycle, Gemz has launched the Gemz Free Recycling Program—a nationwide initiative giving consumers a simple, cost-free way to recycle their empty Gemz packaging.

“At Gemz, we’ve reimagined the hair care experience from the inside out—using concentrated formulas designed to be mixed & matched based on what your hair needs that day, and designing packaging that can give you a great hair day anywhere,” said Marilyn Vennemeyer, Brand Director, Gemz. “Partnering with TerraCycle takes that vision further, offering our customers a clear and convenient way to keep our packaging out of landfills and incinerators and in use for years to come.”

Through the Gemz Free Recycling Program, consumers can send in their empty Gemz shampoo and conditioner capsules and packaging for recycling through TerraCycle. Participation is simple: visit www.terracycle.com/gemz, sign up, and download a prepaid shipping label. Place the empty packaging in any box you have on hand, affix the label, and ship it to TerraCycle. Once received, the collected materials are recycled into pellets that can be used to make new products such as outdoor furniture, storage containers, and playground equipment.

“Gemz is showing how brands can innovate for both performance and the planet,” said Tom Szaky, Founder and CEO of TerraCycle. “This program gives consumers a practical way to enjoy their favorite hair care while keeping hard-to-recycle packaging out of landfills and incinerators.”

The Gemz Free Recycling Program is open to any interested individual, salon, school or community organization in the United States.
