'Duet' is for the woman who is the creator and muse of her own destiny.

Luxury women’s shoe designer Sam Edelman has stepped into its fragrance era.
The designer of his namesake brand, Sam Edelman, along with cofounder and wife, Libby Edelman, celebrated the launch of the brand’s debut juice, “Duet,” at a packed fête at the Bowery Hotel on Sept. 3. They were joined by fellow New York City-based fragrance distributor Parlux Ltd. and Brand Ambassador, songstress Charlotte Lawrence.
Duet, whose bottle is dressed in a silhouette of a pale pink ballet slipper reminiscent of one’s ballet recitals in their youth designed by the company of Edelman’s daughter-in-law, emits a nostalgic and sophisticated blend of mandarin, gardenia and cedarwood crafted by DSM-Firmenich. The juice embodies a harmonious pirouette of duality for the woman who is the creator and muse of her own destiny, per brand officials. Top notes are mandarin, grapefruit and fig; heart notes are coconut water, gardenia and cassis; and cedarwood, white suede and musks comprise the base.
At the event, Edelman praised Alexandra Monet, perfumer at Firmenich, for her expertise in crafting the luminous floral watery signature, and Parlux President Lori Singer and the team for their partnership, which he called an “incredible voyage.”
Sam Edelman’s foray into fragrance comes at a time when fragrance is dancing the lead role in lifestyle and identity, officials said. (It also happens to be the 15th anniversary of “Black Swan” starring Natalie Portman, who picked up the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2011.) Inspired by the enduring creative and romantic partnership of founders Sam and Libby Edelman, Duet reflects a narrative of harmony, duality and timeless connection.
“After 45 years of partnership, we sought to create something authentically true to our brand—an organic expression of the femininity and sensuality that Libby brings to the Sam Edelman universe, translating our personal romance into this new olfactory chapter,” said Sam Edelman, founder and creative director.
He called Duet an intimate new expression of the pair’s longstanding dynamic of creator and muse, while paying homage to the “millions” of ballet flats they’ve brought to market since introducing the style to the US in 1987.
Speaking of familial ties, Edelman is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, a liberal arts college in Bronxville, NY founded as a private women’s college in 1926 by the great-great-great grandfather of Charlotte Lawrence, the brand’s new face and star of a new campaign shot of Libby. (The college has been coeducational since 1968.) In the campaign, Lawrence portrays her own story as a rising talent who seamlessly blends style and substance to bring Duet’s message of balance of self-expression to life while her original song “Ballerina” from her debut album “Somewhere,” plays softly in the background.
“It’s so incredible to be working with a company that is truly founded by love and passion,” said Lawrence, who looked every bit the ballet dancer with her hair styled in a slicked-back bun and draped in a burgundy gown – one of fall 2025’s most desirous colors – which matched her Sam Edelman open-toe black stilettos fashioned with a pink bow. “Thank you for treating me like family. It is every little girl’s dream to be the face of something on Times Square.”
Duet is available at select Nordstrom locations and Nordstrom.com, Sam Edelman boutiques and samedelman.com and Macy’s stores and Macys.com. The fragrance will roll out nationwide at Ulta Beauty in late 2025 with a retail price of $72 and $112 for the 1.0 fluid-ounce and 3.4 fluid-ounce bottles and $32 for the travel spray.
