While the twice-daily face wash, serum, moisturizer and SPF routine constitutes the foundation of a trusted skincare regimen, consumers want perfection. This means taking things to the next level with a visit to their dermatologist for some in-office procedures. Why look good, when consumers can look even better?
It’s 2025 and easier than ever to book the buzziest services at a nearby spa; these include some imported straight from Korea and Japan – two locales beloved for their skincare expertise and viral products. Per Spate’s Popularity Index, the moment’s top-growing facial services microneedling and ultherapy.
Microneedling is a procedure that uses tiny needles to create micro-injuries on the skin’s surface, triggering a healing response that boosts collagen and elastin production. The treatment is trending, with 22.6% growth compared to last year, and across platforms. On Search, interest is up 23.2%, while on TikTok it has grown by +18.9%. Google leads the trend with an 85.8% Popularity Share and 538.9K average monthly searches, while TikTok sees 9.7 million average weekly views. Many consumers are actively searching for microneedling near me and are often already knowledgeable, looking for advanced options like microneedling with RF (radiofrequency) or PRP (platelet-rich plasma). This presents an opportunity for beauty brands to offer pre- and post-treatment care products, particularly for the recovery phase when skin can be inflamed and sensitive, and providers often recommend pausing a regular skincare routine.
On TikTok, related brands like VT Cosmetics, Dr. Melaxin Peel Shot and Medicube are gaining traction alongside this trend, with consumers also showing interest in microneedling at home (#microneedlingathome). However, brands should exercise caution when encouraging consumers to undertake even minimally invasive procedures at home. Hashtags such as #microneedlingbeforeandafter and related search queries like microneedling before and after one treatment highlight the demand for transformation photos and videos, signaling a need for brands to be transparent and provide educational content.
Ultherapy is an FDA-cleared, skin-tightening and lifting procedure that uses ultrasound tech to stimulate collagen production and improve skin laxity. The treatment is trending with 47.4% growth compared to last year, and across platforms. On Search, interest is up 48.3%, while TikTok has seen a 20% increase. Google leads the trend with a 97.5% Popularity Share, averaging 108.4K monthly searches, while TikTok sees 305.4K weekly views.
A non-invasive treatment with almost no downtime, ultherapy appeals to consumers who want visible results without disrupting their daily routines. Search queries suggest that people are less concerned about how it works and more focused on cost, locations, and whether it delivers results. Related hashtags like #Korea (27.8K weekly views) and #koreanclinic (17.2K weekly views) reflect that some consumers are even traveling to Korea for treatments. On Search, ultherapy is often compared to thermage, which uses radiofrequency energy to tighten and contour the skin. Analyst say this offers a gateway for brands and providers to clarify the differences between the two and guide consumers toward the best treatment to suit their needs.
