Heirloom Beauty released this at-home LED Light Therapy Mask with seven colors to target all skin concerns, in January.

When it comes to achieving their best skin, consumers are going beyond topical and seeking a little magic from the wave of high frequency facial wands and LED face masks.

According to Spate, these are the fastest-growing skincare accessories per the market research firm’s popularity index.

High-Frequency Facial Wands

When it comes to skincare, consumers are DIYers at heart, and beauty enthusiasts are opting for at-home high-frequency facial wands. Analysts say this trend has grown by +73.3% compared to last year across TikTok and Google. On TikTok, it receives an average of 1.2 million weekly views, while on Google, it garners 11.5K average monthly searches. Google dominates the trend, holding 56.6% of the popularity share, with growth of +86.3% on search compared to last year, while TikTok has seen an increase of +58.8%.

Like magic, these wands carry a wave of skincare benefits from reducing acne, shrinking pores, improving skin texture and boosting circulation. Currently, most searches are non-branded, such as high-frequency facial wand and best high-frequency facial wand, offering an opportunity for brands to differentiate themselves. Consumers are also actively searching for how to use high-frequency facial wands, which opens the door for brands to educate their audience through informational infographics, influencer content or in-store and clinic demos. Additionally, skincare brands have the opportunity to promote products that pair well with high-frequency wands, further enhancing the experience. Interestingly, on TikTok, users are incorporating high-frequency wands into both their facial skincare routines (#skincareroutine averages 424.8K weekly views alongside this trend) and hair care routines (#hairtok receives 220.4K weekly views alongside this trend) as the tool is said to help with wrinkles and acne, but also with hair growth and overall hair health.

The Skinny on LED

On Google, the trend has grown by +45.0% YoY and receives 35.8K average monthly searches, while on TikTok, it garners 1.9 million average weekly views, with an increase of +13.7% compared to last year. These LED masks use wavelengths of light to penetrate the skin, stimulating cellular processes that help with acne, anti-aging, wound healing and improving skin tone and texture.

Consumers are searching for specific brands, including Omnilux Contour Face and Dr. Dennis Gross LED Mask, but many are also comparing products in an attempt to find the best LED face mask. Consumers are also actively looking for reviews and before/after content, both on Google Search (with search queries like led face mask before and after) and on TikTok, as seen with the hashtag #skintransformation (which receives an average of 207.3K weekly views alongside this trend). On TikTok, users are incorporating the LED face mask into their skincare routines (#skincareroutine gets 472.3K weekly views), addressing issues like #hyperpigmentation (308.1K weekly views) and #antiaging (250.7K weekly views).
