Japanese ingredient supplier Seiwa Kasei had a great year for effective, novel ingredients for hair and skin.
Check out the company’s top three of 2024:
Vegetamide 18MEA-R, a “plant-derived liquid cuticle” has aliphatic cationic compounds of rice peptides with hair conditioning efficacy. The F-Layer, whose main component is 18-MEA, is the barrier structure of hair cuticles. This can be stripped from hair damage. Because Vegetamide’s structure mimics the structure of the F-Layer, it can repair and restore hair cuticles to a healthy state and improve its texture.
iVC 3LGA(3-Laurylglyceryl ascorbate) is an advanced type of “iVC” series, which is company-patented vitamin C derivatives. Seiwai Kasei is the sole supplier for this material developed by its original technology.
iVC 3LGA has a special grade that makes sensitive skin healthy and strong. There are two unique concepts of “ceramide promoter” and “Glutathione booster.”
Ceramide is the main component of skin Lamella structure, which plays an important role in skin barrier function. iVC 3LGA can activate the ceramide synthesis including ceramide-1, 2 and 3.
Glutathione is the strong antioxidant working for intracellular antioxidant activity. iVC 3LGA can increase the amount of glutathione and boost the efficacy. In addition, it has a unique data inhibition of nerve fiber elongation, sensitive skin improvement and anti-pollution, among other benefits. The recommended use level is 1-3%.
iVC DGA (Bis-Glyceryl Ascorbate) is a basic type of “iVC” series which is company-patented vitamin C (ascorbic acid) derivatives.
iVC DGA is a stable grade of nonionic vitamin C with glycerin in the molecule. There are few color changes after a long time, apart from existing vitamin C. It is ideal when formulators want to make stable cosmetics and a vitamin C concentrated serum.
In addition to collagen production and skin brightening, iVC can provide moisture and has a unique function to reinforce the skin barrier by activation of the cornefied cell envelope, which is the structure in stratum corneum. The recommended use level is roughly 1%.
