Makeup wearers are hungry for pumpkin spice, peach, espresso and more.

Nothing says tempting looks more than those inspired by food.
The editors at Cosmetify have compiled the industry’s top food-related makeup trends consumers are hankering for.
Espresso makeup is making a well-deserved comeback for autumn 2024, says Cosmetify. It serves up a richer, deeper alternative to the classic “latte” makeup that became synonymous with the summer-to-autumn transition in the beauty world.
The trend, known as the “grunge” sister to the latte makeup trend, encompasses deep, rich tones. Makeup wearers can effortlessly incorporate espresso makeup into their autumn beauty regime by using smokey eyeshadow or deep nude lips, says Cosmetify.
The hue’s emergence adds another layer (or shot!) to the growing collection of food and drink-inspired beauty trends, most of which originate on TikTok. Rich espresso shades can elevate Halloween makeup by adding depth and drama to any look.
“With its bold, rich hues, espresso makeup perfectly taps into this growing trend, offering a deeper, more sultry option perfect for autumn and winter,” said Franchesca Villar, beauty editor at Cosmetify.
Thanks to celebrities like Sabrina Carpenter and Kylie Jenner, “peach girl” makeup made waves this summer as it tapped into embracing glow-y, sun-kissed skin.
As the name suggests, “Peach Girl” glam refers to makeup that incorporates pops of peachy tones to either the eyes, lips, cheekbones or even forehead for a cohesive and monochromatic finish.
Over the past few years, pumpkin spice has evolved beyond the seasonal latte flavor, becoming a cult makeup trend that played a key role in the rise of food- and drink-inspired makeup looks, analysts say.
Pumpkin-spiced makeup emerged as an autumnal take on the minimal, monochromatic latte trend, which embraced subtle shades of brown and tan makeup. However, the PSL aesthetic is injected with an extra shot of warmth with the fire-tone shades often associated with autumn.
Earlier this year, a new TikTok trend went viral as makeup enthusiasts claimed to have discovered a clever hack for creating faux freckles using an unexpected tool – broccoli heads.
Dubbed “broccoli freckles,” the foodie makeup trend quickly grew, offering a playful take on the popular faux freckle look.
Jelly makeup, a trend that first gained popularity in 2019, centers on creating lightweight, bouncy skin with a unique jelly-like texture, reflecting the name’s origin. The trend utilizes products with a gelatinous consistency, which leaves the skin with a translucent and dewy finish. Unlike the subtle glow of “glossy skin,” jelly makeup offers more coverage while offering simple application.
The glazed donut trend took the beauty world by storm back in 2022 when model and makeup mogul Hailey Bieber debuted her signature glazed donut nails. The nails combined a neutral base topped with sheer pearlescent or chrome toppers for a smooth, glossy look. That year, the nail trend quickly transitioned into skincare when Bieber announced she was embracing glazed donut skin all year round. Her goal was to go to bed with hydrated and glow-y skin to emulate the pristine shine of a donut. Applying a rich moisturizer before bed can achieve this look, leaving wearers with a glistening and radiant complexion by morning, analysts say.
Another food-inspired makeup trend that dominated TikTok is Strawberry Girl makeup—also popularized by Bieber. The trend came just in time for her makeup brand Rhode’s launch of the strawberry glaze peptide lip treatment. As the name implies, the makeup trend is based on strawberry hues and constitutes a simple, glow-y makeup look to recreate, particularly in the summer months. Think pink cheeks and red lips paired with faux or natural freckles to fully emulate the fruit’s characteristics.
