On Aug. 24-25 at its national office in New York City, SCC will hold a new course entitled “Advances in Cleaners and Skin Care via New Materials and Technologies.” The course will describe the main categories of materials normally used to prepare cleansing and skin care products (surfactants, emulsifiers, emollients and polymers). The class will also correlate materials and technologies with product performance, emphasizing recent technologies made possible with new raw materials. The course will also present detailed structures using pictorial forms for easy understanding and discuss a large number of formulations, and describe in depth the chemical composition and physical structure of the most commonly used raw materials in cleansing and skin care products. It will correlate their physical chemical characteristics with the application in a wide range of products. Key technologies, with emphasis on the most advanced, are discussed in the context of the raw materials. Formulations will be shown as practical applications of the technologies The instructor, Ricardo Diez, Ph.D., has many years of experience with companies such as Miranol, Stepan, Witco, and Procter & Gamble, Dial and Chanel. He has obtained many patents and presented numerous papers at global conferences. He instructs courses for the SCC, the IFSCC and CFPA and also teaches a course on applied cosmetic science at Rutgers University. Course fees are available for one or both days.
