This year’s convention will be a “tribute and a promise,” says ACI President and CEO Jennifer Abril.
By: Christine Esposito
Editor-in-Chief
The American Cleaning Institute’s (ACI) Annual Meeting & Industry Convention will take place Feb. 2-6 at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Orlando, FL. This venerable organization is marking a major milestone during the gathering—its 100th anniversary.
The theme is “Celebrating the Past, Shaping the Future.”
“We see it both as a tribute and a promise,” Jennifer Abril, ACI’s president and CEO, told Happi during an interview in December.
“We want to honor the science and the ingenuity and the partnerships that have brought our industry together to protect public health for over a century now. At the same time, we see it as a launchpad. This is a perfect opportunity for us to set the stage for the next hundred years,” she said.
Abril joined ACI last year, taking on the leadership post after leading SOCMA for nearly a decade.
“Any organization that turns 100 is an absolutely remarkable moment,” she said. “I’m honored to be at the helm at such a unique time.”
Abril told Happi that since joining ACI in August, she has been on a listening tour with members and there have been common threads across those discussions.
“Most companies are telling me that they have had a year of unbelievable uncertainty and that they really feel the weight of the complexity that they’re living through—lots of pressure on costs, lots of pressure on supply chains, lots of pressure on margins. And that means that they are really focusing on what’s core to their business,” she said.
ACI continues to focus on things “that are going to move the needle for the industry,” Abril told Happi.
ACI’s Annual Meeting and industry convention is a multifaceted event. It is a time for committee meetings, updates from ACI staff on critical issues and sessions featuring key executives and thought leaders. There are also inspirational speakers from outside the industry, networking events and opportunities to participate in charity endeavors.
Events run from Monday, Feb. 2 to Friday, Feb. 6. Highlights this year include:
